Onder de naam Projekt Revolution touren de heren van Linkin Park jaarlijks hun land door. Dit jaar kwam het circus – dat bestaat uit metal, punk, rock en hip-hop bands – voor het eerst naar Europa. Dat wist ik niet, want tja: het is niet alsof die tour ooit naar Nederland komt. Enfin, daar komt dus nu een live registratie van uit op DVD onder de titel ‘Road to Revolution'.
Wat jammer te noemen is, is wel dat inplaats van een fijne ‘Family Values' achtige release te maken – die tour van KoRn eind die eind jaren '90 op video uitkwam waarop we de mix van alle acts stond – mogen we het doen met louter LP-nummers. Dat zijn er dan wel meteen achttien. Vooruit. Toch was het leuk geweest om ook 2 of drie nummers van Jay-Z of Pendulum op die schijf aan te treffen, die waren er immers ook in het intieme Britse Milton Kenes (50k bezoekers). Nah ja.

Ze zijn begonnen aan het nieuwe album!
I’ve been making songs on my own at home or in the bus, but hadn’t gotten to work with the other guys until this week. A few days ago, Joe, Phoenix and I were having some fun at Joe’s, and started a couple things. Of the two songs we worked on, one was a heavier, fast-tempo song with heavy guitars and distorted sampled drums, and the other was a little less aggressive, but still dark and upbeat, and had a really interesting chord progression. Joe’s got this new MIDI keyboard-turntable unit, where he can make his vinyl play tones that you hit on the keyboard, and we can scratch them in real time. It’s pretty cool–I think there’s a lot of potential for that thing.
