De bosbranden in Californië hebben aardig wat celebrities uit (één van) hun huizen gejaagd, maar de gewone gezinnen zijn natuurlijk het meeste de dupe. Een van die gezinnen is dat van producer Colin Richardson. Richardson heeft legendarische platen als Fear Factory’s Remanufacture en Machine Heads Burn My Eyes geproduceerd en deed de afgelopen jaren o.a. Bullet For My Valentine en As I Lay Dying.
Hoewel Richardson zelf in Engeland verblijft zitten zijn vrouw en dochter tussen het puin. Ze vragen nu op ludieke, maar wel wat aparte wijze om donaties voor het Rode Kruis.
“This disaster has been costly and the Red Cross has been there, but they are in need of more donations”, laat Colin’s vrouw Lora weten. “Even if you can only give a dollar, it will help. If everyone on Colin's friends list were to give $5, we will have raised over $28,000 for the Red Cross. If you can, please help. Just go to www.redcross.org to give and get information. Both Colin and I appreciate you taking the time.”
Een nobele oproep, maar voor muziek makende metalheads wordt nog iets interessanter. "If you are in an unsigned band and give $50.00 to the Red Cross, Colin will listen to one of your tracks and write back a brief critique. If we really love what we hear, we will recommend you to some of the A&R folks we work with. After you donate you will receive a 'thank you' email from the Red Cross. Just send me a message on my page and I will give you an email address to forward the email to. Then forward me the email and a link to your music and Colin will come back to you within a week.”
